Christmas in Old City Park

So these past couple week here at DBU the entire school has been lit up and decorated for Christmas! The campus was quite a gorgeous sight and night!

The school choir puts on a magnificent christmas concert every year in the chapel.  I was a proud participant!

I'm fortunate to go to a school that has lots of fun activities going on all the time! During Christmas we have a tree lighting ceremony where they had carriage rides, it was so much fun :)

Every tree on campus is lit up!

In the heart of downtown Dallas there is a collection of all the historic buildings of Dallas.  Every Christmas they put on a candle lighting tour that is filled with fun activities for all ages.
side note: my camera died so these pictures are from my phone :)

They had quilling; an old paper art.  You take little strips of paper and curl it into shapes like the flower above, and then glue it onto cards and other things.

My twin sister and baby brother had a blast doing this activity! We stayed here for quite a while, while they worked on their cards.  Joshua made a christmas tree while the girls made hearts!

Here's a beautiful snowflake made by one of the demonstrators

We visited many of the historic houses

Here's a view from the balcony window

The cool thing about this house is that I had my 9th birthday party in it! They do American Girl Doll themed birthday parties; which I was very into at the time.

As the sun started setting they began to light all of the candles around the village.

Here are the younger ones in front of the original homestead house of Dallas.

Joshua got a candy cane from the victorian Santa Clause they had out.

Kettle Corn is a huge family favorite! Anna Grace was super excited, especially when we found out...

...that they had a bag big enough for our family!

Cutest ones of the bunch (also the most rambunctious)

boys, always stuffing food in their faces!

The sunset was gorgeous! The picture doesn't do it justice.

We went to the old school house

Which was cutely decorated by children for the holidays :)

You can't really make out much in this picture, but there are original iron desks and a cute christmas tree in the front of the class room if you look closely!

We stopped inside the pavilion and bought some goodies.  Joshua got 'snickernoodles' aka 'snickerdoodles' Anna Grace got chocolate chip cookies and I got chocolate fudge :)

When we left the pavilion it was pitch black outside!

The last house we visited was the old farmstead.  You can't really see but the china pictured it blue willow, the same china that I have stored away to be my everyday china when I have my own house.

They had a warm fire lit as it was starting to get chilly!

The girls helped string popcorn for decoration.

Last but not least we visited the blacksmith.  He was making a heart for one of the girls that was watching.  They also had other hand crafted gifts hanging along the roof of the little lean to.  I was super excited to see treble clef hanging up!

All in all it has been a wonderful Christmas season so far!  More to come soon since I'm on Christmas break!

DBU

I don't have much time today to post but I thought I would anyway!  So today before I leave for choir practice I'll tell you a little bit about my new home :)
Isn't it just gorgeous! I love it here at DBU and wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

My room is a quite a bit smaller than my old room at home but i'm making do! I'll post a pic later of what the finished room looks like when it's clean ;)

The view from my window is gorgeous!

Ok well it looks a lot prettier from where I am lol  There are some horses that graze right by that fence every afternoon so it reminds me a little bit of home :) It's the perfect view for me :)

The campus is absolutely beautiful which makes school all the more enjoyable!

I'll bring my camera to class with me one day and take some inside pics to show you all!

DBU's main focus is learning servant leadership throughout our college experience so this statue is displayed at the front entrance of the school.

The pilgrim chapel was just finished in the spring of 2010 and is so far the largest building on campus.  The building that is being worked on currently is the new fine arts building! yay! That should be ready hopefully by the spring semester of this year!  I'll post pics of it's progress later.  The new fine arts building is going to be state of the art (no pun intended, ha)  with the newest and most high tech mac lab in university history.  Many prestigious colleges are on the touring list to come take a tour once it is completed!

I will post more later about how college is going but I'm getting ready to head off to choir practice! love you all!
